1955 - 1974: I am a second generation of three contractors.
The business was started in New York, by my father Paul J. Ultimo
in 1937. I began to participate in the business in 1955.
My father's projects provided the initial training and experience
that established my proficiency in building layout, concrete foundations,
plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and masonry. I also administrated
contracts, estimating, subcontracts, accounting, management, scheduling
and receivables. My father’s contracts involved construction
projects in Brooklyn, Manhattan and Long Island, New York.
1974 - Present: Upon the death of my father and a down turn in business
in New York, I moved to Dana Point, California, and restarted my
business here. During the high activity of public works and local
home building in the late 70's and 80's, I was fully involved in
projects involving custom homes, remodels, public works and tract
building.
With the advent of the computer, I developed expertise and computer
literacy in contracts, subcontracts, estimating, scheduling, claims
and claims prevention, subcontractor control, quality control, value
engineering, and legal consulting. I have hands on experience in
the administration of union and non-union contracts, prevailing
wage jobs, and MBE / WBE requirements for federal, state, county,
city and school contracts.
